He capped it off with a new class lap record of 123.056 mph on the final lap — another masterclass on the Mountain.

Earlier in the day, Michael finished 3rd in Superstock Race 2 on the BMW M1000RR. After a run-on at Braddan and early issues dropped him to 20th, he fought back through the field to secure another TT podium — a gritty ride under pressure.

Michael Dunlop made it back-to-back Supersport wins at TT 2025, taking victory in Race 2 on the Milwaukee/MD Racing Ducati Panigale V2.
It was a dominant ride from the front — four laps at pace, finishing over 26 seconds clear.

This marked his 32nd career TT win and extended his unmatched run in the Supersport class to eight straight victories.

Michael Dunlop claimed his 31st Isle of Man TT victory with a dominant ride in Supertwin Race 1 on the MD Racing Paton.

Leading from the first sector, he built a commanding gap lap after lap, eventually crossing the line over 22 seconds clear of the field. The win also marked his 48th career TT podium, surpassing John McGuinness for the all-time podium record.

TT 2025 – Opening Day Results

Michael Dunlop opened his 2025 Isle of Man TT campaign with a win and a second-place finish on the first day of racing.

In Supersport Race 1, Dunlop took a hard-fought victory aboard the Ducati Panigale V2, marking his 30th career TT win. The result was also historic for Ducati — their first TT win in 30 years.

“It’s been a long time for Ducati at the TT. To be the one to put them back on the top step here is something I’m proud of.” – MD

Earlier in the day, he finished second in the Superbike TT after a close battle throughout.

A strong start to the week, with more to come.

'MD's' – A New Landmark on the Mountain Course

The newly named corner, known as ‘MD’s’, is a left-hand bend located just after the 27th milestone on the Mountain Section of the course. This naming commemorates Dunlop’s 27th TT victory in 2024, which surpassed the previous record held by his uncle, Joey Dunlop. The positioning of ‘MD’s’ is symbolic, following ‘Joey’s’ at the 26th milestone, highlighting the enduring legacy of the Dunlop family in TT history.

Michael Dunlop’s Reflections
At the unveiling of the corner, Dunlop expressed his sentiments:

“It is a real, genuine honour to have this happen, and it’s something I’m really proud of. Anyone that knows me will know how important history and legacy is to me. I’m definitely not one for the attention, and I think everyone knows I don’t really enjoy the spotlight, but to be recognised in this way is special and means a great deal to me. I’ve still got plenty of wins in me yet, who knows where I’ll get to in that respect, but to know that this corner is here and will always be here – it’s a real privilege.”

He also remarked on the significance of the Dunlop name in the sport

“I’ve said plenty of times since matching and passing Joey’s record that records are there to be broken and they will be broken again. But for me, it has always been important that the Dunlop name continues on at the top of the sport, and for it to be a Dunlop that takes things to that next level.”

From the high-speed straights of the North West 200 to the technical challenges of Armoy and Tandragee, Dunlop has consistently proven his ability to win on any circuit, against the best competition in the sport. Below are some of the main highlights from his 119 Irish road race victories.

2006
Michael Dunlop secured his first-ever road race win at the Ballymoney & District Motor Club’s Bush Road Races, taking victory in the 125cc class.

2007
He added several more wins across Irish road racing events, including victories in the 250cc and 400cc classes, showcasing his ability across different machinery.

2008
This was a defining year for Dunlop. Just days after the tragic loss of his father, Robert Dunlop, during practice for the North West 200, Michael showed incredible resilience by going on to win the 250cc race at the same event. It was an emotional and defining moment that displayed his sheer determination.

2009
Dunlop continued his rise, securing multiple wins at the Armoy Road Races, Cookstown 100, and Skerries 100, further cementing his name as a serious competitor in Irish road racing.

While in France, Michael visited the Furygan factory in Nîmes to work directly with their competition department. He spent time at the workstations, getting hands-on with the process behind the gear he’ll wear for the 2025 season.

Suit, gloves, and protective kit were tested, adjusted, and tuned in preparation for the TT.
